I Promise The Acolyte is Still Coming ...

It's been a long time. A long, long, long time. And in that long, long, long space of time have there have been some major changes to my life. But by no means does this mean I have stopped writing. Quite the contrary! The past few years The Acolyte has had several false starts. Every time I have thought it was ready, it has not been ready. There have been at least two major rewrites due to at least one plot hole, and one ... let's just say one major oversight in the plot that would've caused a lot of trouble had it gone unnoticed. Furthermore, this book contains more lore, and more world building than any book that has preceded it so far. There have been a lot of details to hammer out, a lot of history to get straight, and a lot of rereads. Seriously, I have read this book over and over so many times that I want to scream. And it's a BIG book, currently clocking in at 300, 658 words! Now for those of you who are not accustomed to comparing books by word count, the largest Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix, is 257,045 words!
Needless to say, The Acolyte has been a colossal and often challenging project. And that's to say nothing of what has been going on outside the pages of the book. In January of 2025, my family and I put our house in Houston on the market with plans to head back to our hometown of Louisville, Kentucky ... kinda. You see, before we could officially move into a house in Louisville, we had to temporarily live in an apartment in a small town in Indiana two hours away from our ultimate destination, and from any family who could help us. It's been quite an adventure adjusting to an apartment with our pets, and my now four-year-old son, and we've had to wait a lot longer than we originally thought we would. But I've never stopped plugging away at this manuscript, and it seems the end might finally be in sight!
As a thank you to all those who have hung in there with me, I will be posting more concept art and illustrations from The Acolyte, and I may even post a link to the book's playlist early (just know it might be subject to change, my editor has yet to see the manuscript after all).
God bless! Hopefully I'll be announcing good news soon!
